The Beverley Barge Preservation Society
Shanty Festival
on the Beverley Beck Canal.

The Festival will be on 24th 25th May 2008 the late May Bank Holiday Weekend.

The Preservation Society has to date contacted many folk artistes from around the Country and many have expressed a great interest in attending. Many Boat owners have also been contacted from around the Ridings who have also made a commitment to attend.
The Beckside part of the Town where the Canal is situated provides an exciting venue for
A Shanty Festival, Seven public houses, a Leisure Centre that offers a Camping Site and facilities,
Community Area for performers, Towpath walks in a Rural Setting.
Stallholders and Business Groups will be welcome to take part in the Two Day Event.

This festival is free accept for camping. Although we will be receiving some limited funding we do intend to have bucket collections over the weekend to defray some of the costs.

Artists that have confirmed their support to us so far are:

The festival is centred round the Beverley Beck and the adjoining pubs will be alive

with sing rounds and concerts etc.
With boats in the beck and room for stalls it promises to be a fantastic weekend.

The itinerary (TBC) so far is;

Friday - Hodgesons pub meet and greet

Saturday. - seen as Main day- singarounds and booked guests in "The Foresters Pub" evening concert

Dance group outside

Sunday. - All day singarounds at Foresters and another pub (TBC) Event on "Barge Syntan" late morning

Survivor's session; Hodgesons pub evening

Camping: £8.00 per night :- this will be at the usual site rear of Hodgesons were security and facilities will be provided
